While my world is not threatened by fires, I can comiserate on the effects of global warming. This has been the summer from hell and each year it will get worse.

My mother would not be happy with the neighborhood she and now I live in. Crab grass is allowed to consume lawns and sidewalks. Unwanted vines climb and kill trees.

I do my best to keep the unwanted away, including the rats.

Kudos to your 😺.

Humans are the only species that foul their own nests. Time was that one took pride of ownership and tended their surroundings. Letting things go is a sign of deeper despair. It says, “I’ve ceased to care - for others, for the planet.”

I’ve never let my property look like this but watering restrictions and conditions I’ve never seen before have given me no choice. I began the season so hopefully, buying seeds early, tilling my vegetable plot, pruning my roses and going manic erecting barriers which the urban deer still have breached. My deep respect of water and it’s scarcity due to global warming that meant no snow or rain in this once verdant valley left me sad but philosophical in what I had to let go. I am, however, of farming stock, and one utters the mantra of “There’s always next year.” That is hope in the face of the untenable, and wisdom to work with the elements in my part of tending the planet.

While I never met him, I already love your father...we think similarly. I'm guessing I'm just a little further north of you and just north of me, the farmer that is my food source may already have evacuated due to an out-of-control fire that is perilously nearby. I asked about the animals and the exchange between us said it all. 😢

I had to chase a doe and this year’s triplets… she is never with a herd and always seems to birth 3, out of the back part of my lot… she had somehow breached all the barriers but I could not leave them as it is sere and what little I have given water is at further risk from their browsing, plus in the night she may have found herself trapped and panicked. That meant I was out in poor air but I did leave a bucket of water. Never have I seen such conditions and the smoke is been seeping in my old, solid, windows tight, well-constructed house and my eyes are burning. 100 Mexican wildfire people are arriving… that is if flights can land as many have been cancelled due to the smoke which is coming from all directions and settling into the valley like lead with as much toxicity… and every person and creature who is out in it is breathing that in. Thank you Dear Spirit for being you. T.

This just breaks my heart! I have not been to all the provinces in Canada, 🇨🇦 but of the ones I have visited, British Columbia is my favourite, and I would have moved there in a heartbeat.💓
